But it’s not always so. You see, there are business owners who are focused on profit, and there are those that are focused on not ... Read More »

Do you need help to be your best?

do-you-need-help-to-be-your-best

We need someone to clear the tracks, provide a solution to the lack of movement and get our momentum going again. Just like my trainer is able to see what I am capable of achieving in my fitness, so is a business coach for your business. They can often provide ideas and solutions to your non movement that you can't see, simply because you are the one stuck there, trying hard to move, but unable to see the situation from the outside. Missed some baby steps?

missed_some_baby_steps

When a child is learning to walk sheer determination kicks in. Regardless of how many falls or mishaps, once they have a taste of it they need more and are single-minded in achieving the goal to walk. They continue to try over and over again until they succeed. One focus, one aim; achieve, tick; onto the next goal. And think about it - they literally take baby steps (hence the expression) to achieve walking. The first step is crawling, next standing, then walking. Single, focused baby steps achieve the end result. Once we’re adults we tend to “rush over” baby steps, anxious to get to the end result. And often, as the end result is slow coming, we are left feeling disappointed, unmotivated and doubtful of our intentions. I have been guilty of this many times. In this fast-paced world we live in, we have forgotten about taking single, focused steps to achieve the end result. So, how can you maintain your motivation, drive and focus to achieve your end results, without sabotaging yourself along the way? Read More »

lacking-inspiration-enthusiasm-business

Are you lacking inspiration or enthusiasm for your business right now? It happens. Sometimes it can all feel like such a drudge that you wonder why you're in business! It’s totally normal. Some will say this feeling is leading to a breakdown of sorts, and once this occurs you can look forward to the breakthrough. I tend to believe this. Often running a business can become a drudge when we are totally overwhelmed, have too much to do and no one to help. It's like a spiraling effect; there doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel. Read More »

Are you past determining your business success based on your bank account balance?

determining-business-success

Some of us start our business with a particular purpose in mind - to solve someone’s problem, realise a brilliant idea or make money from a hobby. The way you begin doesn't determine business performance, but can determine the stage of financial knowledge you are at. There are five stages of business financial knowledge. It doesn't matter whether you've been in business for one, three or five years; you could be in any one of the five stages right now. And it’s up to you how long you stay in each stage. Read More »

I often get asked, “What numbers should I be looking at?” My answer is always all of them, but for some that’s just too much. And dependent on your industry the answer can also differ. But really there is a first step that business owners need to make – and that is understanding the story behind your numbers. Okay, stay ... Read More »

My system broke, now what?

system-broke

My attention has been diverted away from my own business of late, three months in fact. I have been so busy with existing clients - and new clients coming on board - that I have neglected my own business. I have long been a proponent of structuring your week for the various functions of your business. For me that's client days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, Wednesday is business development day and Fridays are my follow up and admin days. This system has worked well for not only me, but for clients and readers of my material. Read More »
