Plan your break, rather than it breaking you

Holidays of any sort, be they school holidays for your children or family vacations, all require planning when you have a business. With my business we have monthly, quarterly and yearly deadlines to met. As such, it’s imperative that I map out when all the school holidays are for the year on a wall planner at the beginning of the year. That way I can see if any of those super important deadlines occur during school holidays and present a conflict for the schedule I have with my children. The same goes for scheduling in vacations. They are often booked around ongoing commitments that can't be moved. Planning plays a big part in ensuring your transition from work mode to play mode is successful. Read More »

My systems have evolved

tech-systems

As most of you know I love systems and wanted to share the systems I use in my business everyday. Below I outline the tools I use to manage myself, my time, my team and my business? Managing myself I use a iPhone, all of my email, calendaring & contacts runs through google apps which allows me to access all of this information through the online interface or my iPhone, iPad or Mac, no syncing required, it’s real time! I’m also an information lover. I am constantly reading books, listening to mp3’s and coming across useful information on the internet. To keep track of it all, I use an online system called Evernote. It has many uses but I mainly use it as an electronic filing cabinet. There is a feature called “clip to Evernote” for your browser that allows you to “print” an interesting website page or part of a page to Evernote and then tag it appropriately. Read More »

lacking-inspiration-enthusiasm-business

Are you lacking inspiration or enthusiasm for your business right now? It happens. Sometimes it can all feel like such a drudge that you wonder why you're in business! It’s totally normal. Some will say this feeling is leading to a breakdown of sorts, and once this occurs you can look forward to the breakthrough. I tend to believe this. Often running a business can become a drudge when we are totally overwhelmed, have too much to do and no one to help. It's like a spiraling effect; there doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel. Read More »

My system broke, now what?

system-broke

My attention has been diverted away from my own business of late, three months in fact. I have been so busy with existing clients - and new clients coming on board - that I have neglected my own business. I have long been a proponent of structuring your week for the various functions of your business. For me that's client days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, Wednesday is business development day and Fridays are my follow up and admin days. This system has worked well for not only me, but for clients and readers of my material. Read More »

Are you being resourceful or resourceFULL?

resourceful-resourcefull

As we get into the business growth groove we usually start to consume more resources either in the normal course of business or in attempts to get to the next level. Sometimes we are so busy in the growth mindset that we automatically invest in more and more resources without properly evaluating what we are doing. We can lose sight of being resourceFUL i.e. making the most of what we have and making sure each dollar is purchasing maximum value. I'm not talking about being stingy but taking a step back and evaluating what resources you are investing in and deciding whether: Read More »

Mapping your money Alexis Neely style

mapping-you-money

I listened to a free call given by Alexis Neely and Dave Dee about creating your own money map for your business and life. In my opinion it was an awesome call. For me at least it has brought together the steps into a logical format that explains why each step relies on the other. And for a free call it gave loads of useful info (as you can see by the length of this post!) Read More »
